Layout:

The New Mexico Western Railroad (NMW) is free-lance based on ATSF and SP prototype. The railroad is set in the mid 90's before the BNSF and UP/SP mergers. The NMW replaces the section of the ATSF between Amarillo TX and Winslow, AZ through central and western New Mexico known as the Belen Cutoff.

The mainline is mostly double track with single track though the canyon. Dispatching is currently verbal block authority. CTC will be added at a future date. Turnouts are hand thrown in the yards and industrial areas, mainline turnouts are motorized with local control. The railroad does not operate any locals, however there are three industry jobs that will keep crews occupied with their duties for the session. Mainline trains consist of intermodal, Amtrak, Commuter trains and manifest freights. There are also two vehicle trains that drop and pick up blocks at the Rio Puerco Ford Assembly plant.
