Layout:

The Mineral Area Railway (MAR) was started in 2001 as the Dayton and Northern from Kalmbach's book of 101 track plans. In 2002 it was altered and expanded to become the Mineral Area Railway. The railroad is based on the Missouri Pacific trackage from St. Louis to Poplar Bluff, MO. The time period for the MAR is late 1960's. Cities and towns on the layout are named for real places, but are not in true geographic order. Included in the operation are interchange trains from the SLSF and the C&EI railroads. Local and through trains depart from St. Louis, Poplar Bluff, and Bismarck.
